About
As a UX Design Intern at Macmillan Learning, I had the opportunity to work on Achieve, an innovative Learning Management System (LMS) designed to make e-learning more engaging, approachable, and accessible for school students. My primary responsibility was to enhance the user experience, ensuring that students found the platform both intuitive and captivating.
My first solution involved refining the existing UI to make it more user-friendly and visually appealing. Additionally, I introduced features like 'Adjust Font Size' and 'Screen Reader' to ensure that visually impaired students could access educational materials with ease.
The second solution I implemented allowed students to take notes while reading e-books. This feature enabled them to mark sections they did not understand, making it easier to revisit and review content later, especially useful for quizzes and exams.
Understanding the anxiety students feel when encountering wrong answers, I redesigned the feedback system. Now, every wrong answer comes with a detailed explanation, helping students understand their mistakes and learn how to answer correctly in the future. They can also use a 'Hint' feature for guidance, although it does not award points. For advanced subjects like math, chemistry, and physics, I introduced a 'Feedback' feature that addresses minor errors, such as missing symbols, which traditional LMS systems often penalize harshly.
Lastly, I developed a tutor dashboard that provides insights into students' confidence levels, goals, task completion times, and major obstacles. This tool helps tutors tailor their approach, improving the overall e-learning experience for students.
